Have you been as busy as me lately? Let’s just say, I pulled out my planner and had to flip thru a few weeks in September to get to OCTOBER! Did I miss a few weeks?! How did we get here so fast?
In some ways, it’s a great thing to be closer to the end of 2020 (yay!) But at the same time, so many of us have been thru a lot in the last 9 months. I’m sharing my 101 Days till Christmas 2020 countdown here on the blog to encourage us to find ways to show love each day, as we get close to the holiday season.
If there’s ever been a year when we need to focus on the good, it’s 2020. There are so many people who are going to need help this year because of financial or health issues, or maybe because they lost a loved one … it’s honestly heartbreaking to think about. But if any (or all) of us can do something to help, by extending kindness or meeting a need, let’s do it!
10 Simple Ways to Show Love
These may sounds a little too simple — like, really, Coppelia? You’re calling THESE things “ways to show love???” But don’t judge (or laugh) yet. These are super small, simple & easy ways to show love in ways that could be overlooked because they’re too simple … but they work!
1. Stop and make eye contact.
This is one of the easiest and simplest ways to communicate love … by saying, I care enough to pay attention to you. I see you. I care.
2. Hold the door open (and then use hand sanitizer!)
Unless you like living on the edge! But it’s a pandemic, so I don’t recommend that.
3. Put your phone down and listen!
Um, I know I need to do this more often, especially around my hubby and kids. (Sorry, guys!) We get caught up in “doing more.” Let’s try to do less & show more love today! <3
4. Wear your mask.
Pretty please. It could help keep someone from catching Covid.
5. Post your love on social media!
Share a photo on social media with reasons why that person is special to you. Remember to tag them!
6. Write a note!
Add a little post it note to the kids’ lunches or leave one for your hubby to find in the morning. Leave notes in the bathroom, on the fridge, go crazy leaving notes if you want! We tend to get so much discouragement and negativity throughtout our day, those little notes can make a difference!
7. Donate to charity
Chances are, we all have clothes we can part with (if they’re in good shape), or extra canned goods that we could donate to a local charity. If you’ve been thinking about it, do it this week! I loved the smile on the guy’s face when we recently dropped off a few bags at Goodwill! It’s another simple way to share & show love.
8. Bake something!
Whether it’s chocolate chip cookies that don’t make it out of your kitchen or corn muffins your daughter takes to share at gymnastics, baking is a great (and delicious) way to share & show love. (And my daughter would do this every week if she could! Lol!)
9. Share FREE coffee!
It’s pretty often that you hear of BOGO deals, so take advantage of them! Next time you come across a “buy one, get one,” go ahead and call or text a friend to ask them what they want. You might make their day … and we could all use a little extra coffee sometimes!
Has someone ever prayed for you? It’s one of the sweetest ways to show love … to ask God on that person’s behalf. You can pray, talk to God, for a friend who’s going thru cancer. If you have a friend who is unemployed, you can pray for her to find a great job. Share network contacts if you can, too!
Sharing prayer requests can be a great way to be vulnerable with those around you. That vulnerability can lead to deeper relationships where we get more opportunities to offer help or receive it when needed.
And if you’re not a super religious person, that’s ok! I’d still love to pray for you, if you’d like (let me know in the comments!) Or you can also find out how I came to know Jesus here.
You can find more simple ideas & ways to show love here! It’s a great article from Zoosk.com with practical tips & things that are easy to do almost every day to show love to those around us.
Thanks for checking out my blog! I hope it’s a blessing as we continue this 101 Days to Christmas 2020 Countdown, finding ways to share & show love!
